
A research hub — Made with Google
More than 7,000 languages are spoken around the world, but only a few of them are easily accessible online. Google Research has been working with communities across the globe to collect language samples from native speakers in an effort to create the largest open-source repository of language data available.
We worked with the Google Research team to create an interactive visualization of this data, which lived on a GitHub page until now. Using WebGL, we transformed this data into a dynamic 3D globe so users can intuitively navigate the site. As the LinguaMeta data grows, this site will update, too.
