We partnered with CP+B to design and develop a simple game
for MetLife’s “I can do this” campaign.
Players were invited to assume the role of Schroeder at a piano
immediately before his show begins.
A tempo-focused game mechanic centered on keyboard button
mashing was developed and finely tuned. A
sensitive visualizer was invented to motion-match and float musical notation
above a cinematic video. Quarter, eighth
and sixteen notes cleverly rose into the air, popping out of the piano from
locations corresponding to the user’s position on the keyboard.
The game was deployed as both a Masthead Ad on NYTimes.com
and as a Facebook Tab. Thanks to the devious
button mashing game play, the ads set record interaction metrics with an average
of 2.5 bazillion keystrokes per user. It
was also featured on Mashables!
